Flat Rack Container

Customer-managed Flat Rack Container is a special type of container with no roof or side walls, consisting only of a base and end walls, specifically designed for loading oversized, overweight, or irregularly shaped cargo such as large machinery, steel, vehicles, yachts, etc. In foreign trade, it is one of the special containers, alongside standard dry containers, open-top containers, tank containers, etc. Usage scenarios include: cargo height or width exceeding standard container limits, inability to load from the top or side into standard containers, requiring forklifts or cranes for side or top loading/unloading, etc. Precautions: Confirm cargo dimensions and the flat rack's load-bearing limits to avoid overweight or overwidth preventing shipment; secure lashing to prevent shifting during transport; freight is usually higher than standard containers and may involve oversized surcharges; some shipping lines have specific route restrictions for flat racks. The difference from standard containers is the absence of walls, leaving cargo exposed and requiring additional waterproofing; the difference from open-top containers is that open-top containers have side walls and only the top can be opened, while flat racks have neither side walls nor a roof.
