Bonded Display

Bonded display refers to a trade method approved by customs where goods are transported under bonded status to a customs special supervision area or bonded premises for exhibition and display without the immediate payment of import tariffs and import-related taxes. This term is commonly used in cross-border e-commerce, international exhibitions, luxury goods, and high-end consumer goods industries, helping enterprises showcase products to potential buyers without incurring tax liabilities and facilitating transactions. When using this method, note: goods must be displayed under customs supervision, the display period is usually limited (e.g., 6 months), and goods must not be sold or used without authorization; if a decision is made to sell domestically after the display, taxes must be paid retroactively and formal import procedures completed. Compared with general trade imports, bonded display defers the tax obligation and reduces capital occupation; the difference from bonded warehousing is that bonded display emphasizes the 'display' function, usually occurring at specific exhibition venues, while bonded warehousing focuses on storage. Enterprises need to apply to customs in advance and submit guarantees to ensure compliance.
