Strapping Operation

Strapping Operation is a professional term in foreign trade logistics, referring to the operation of using strapping bands (such as PP bands, PET bands, steel bands) to bind and secure goods or pallets, aimed at preventing scattering, collapsing, or damage during transportation. It is commonly seen in container loading, pallet reinforcement, and export of large equipment. Unlike ordinary 'Packing', Strapping Operation emphasizes external binding and reinforcement rather than inner packaging or sales packaging; compared with 'Lashing', strapping usually targets individual goods or pallets, while lashing is mostly used for overall fixation within a container. Precautions include: selecting the material and strength of strapping bands according to cargo weight and transport mode; avoiding direct contact between strapping bands and sharp edges by adding edge protectors; paying attention to the fumigation requirements of the destination country for wooden pallets; checking tightness after strapping, as too tight may damage the goods and too loose will lose the fixing effect. In addition, strapping operations may involve manual or mechanical operation, and the responsible party and cost bearing must be clearly specified in the packing list or contract.
