Picking is a core operational term in foreign trade logistics and warehousing. It refers to the process of accurately retrieving specified goods from storage locations in a warehouse according to orders or outbound instructions and consolidating them in a designated area. Its use scenarios cover cross-border e-commerce, general trade, bonded warehouses, and overseas warehouses, and it is especially critical in the pre-shipment preparation stage for B2C parcels and B2B full-container shipments. Precautions include: product SKU, quantity, batch, and expiration date must be verified to avoid wrong or missing shipments; it must be strictly distinguished from 'Packing' and 'Checking'—picking focuses on 'retrieving goods,' packing focuses on 'packaging,' and checking focuses on 'verification.' Unlike 'Sorting,' which classifies by destination or route, picking extracts goods according to order requirements.
