Green Packaging

Green Packaging refers to the use of recyclable, biodegradable, low-pollution, and resource-saving packaging methods in foreign trade, aiming to reduce environmental impact and meet the environmental regulations and consumer preferences of importing countries. Its core requirements include: environmentally friendly materials (such as recycled paper, biodegradable plastics), reduction (avoiding excessive packaging), recyclability, and non-toxicity. It is commonly used in exports to markets with strict environmental regulations such as the EU, North America, and Japan, especially for electronic products, food, and daily chemical products. Precautions: Green packaging standards vary by country (e.g., EU Packaging Directive, German Green Dot), and certification requirements of the target market must be confirmed before export; green packaging may increase costs but can enhance brand image and avoid green barriers. The difference from ordinary packaging lies in emphasizing environmental friendliness throughout the entire life cycle, rather than merely protecting goods; it slightly overlaps with 'sustainable packaging,' but green packaging focuses more on reducing pollution and resource consumption. Foreign trade practitioners should clearly stipulate environmental packaging clauses in contracts and retain relevant test reports.
