CE Mark

The CE Mark is a mandatory product safety certification mark for the European Union, indicating that a product complies with the essential requirements of relevant EU directives (such as the Low Voltage Directive, Machinery Directive, Toy Safety Directive, etc.) and can circulate freely within the European Economic Area (EEA). Usage scenarios: Almost all industrial products entering the EU market (such as electronic appliances, machinery, toys, medical devices, etc.) must bear the CE Mark; otherwise, they may not be sold and may even be detained by customs or fined. Precautions: The CE Mark is not a quality mark but a safety conformity mark; manufacturers must carry out conformity assessment (e.g., self-declaration or involvement of a notified body), compile technical documentation, sign a Declaration of Conformity, and ensure the mark is clear, correctly proportioned, and irremovable. Difference from other terms: The CE Mark is different from China's CCC certification and the US UL certification; it is a self-declaration system mandated by EU law, and some high-risk products require third-party notified body certification. Foreign trade practitioners should confirm the applicable directives and harmonized standards for their products to avoid misuse or forgery of the CE Mark, which could lead to legal risks.
