Stacking Height

Stacking Height is a professional term in foreign trade transportation and warehousing, referring to the maximum number of layers or height (usually expressed in centimeters or layers) that goods are allowed to be stacked upward on pallets, in containers, or in warehouses. It directly relates to the packaging strength of goods, transportation safety, and warehousing efficiency. Usage scenarios include: when loading containers, the stacking height must be determined based on the load-bearing capacity of the packaging to prevent damage to the bottom layers; the maximum stacking height may be indicated in the ocean bill of lading or packing list; it is used in warehouse management to plan shelf space. Notes: Different goods (such as cartons, wooden cases, bags) have different stacking height limits, and reference should be made to packaging markings (such as 'Stacking Height: 5 layers' or 'Max 1.5m'); exceeding the limit may cause cargo damage and insurance claim rejection. Compared with 'Stacking Layers', stacking height emphasizes vertical dimension, while layers emphasize quantity; unlike 'Load Bearing Capacity', which refers to the maximum pressure a single package can withstand, stacking height is the actual vertical limit for stacking. Foreign trade contracts should specify stacking height requirements to avoid transportation disputes.
