Pallet Pad

A Pallet Pad is a thin sheet placed between cargo and a pallet during logistics transportation, typically made of cardboard, plastic, or wood. Its core functions are to distribute the weight of the cargo, prevent direct friction between the cargo and the pallet, provide moisture protection, and increase stacking stability. It is commonly used in container shipping, LCL (less than container load) consolidation, and palletized cargo, especially when the cargo packaging is soft or the pallet surface is uneven. Precautions include: the pad size should match the pallet to avoid overhang that may hinder loading and unloading; the material must comply with the environmental regulations of the importing country (e.g., wooden pallet pads require fumigation); a pallet pad cannot replace the pallet itself and serves only as an auxiliary liner. Difference from 'Pallet': a pallet is a load-bearing unit that can be moved as a whole by a forklift; a pallet pad is a consumable liner that is usually delivered with the cargo but does not circulate. Difference from 'Divider': a divider is used for layered separation, while a pallet pad is used for bottom cushioning. In foreign trade documents, pallet pads are generally not listed separately, but if wooden pallet pads are used, they must be declared during customs clearance and accompanied by a fumigation certificate.
