VCI Anti-Rust Paper

VCI Anti-Rust Paper is a packaging material impregnated or coated with a Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI). It releases corrosion-inhibiting vapor within an enclosed space to form a protective film on metal surfaces, thereby preventing rust. Usage scenarios: widely used for long-term sea shipment or warehouse rust prevention packaging of exported machinery, auto parts, bearings, hardware tools, and other metal products. Precautions: ① The metal surface to be packaged must be clean and dry, free of oil stains and hand sweat; ② After packaging, it should be sealed as much as possible to prevent the corrosion-inhibiting vapor from escaping; ③ Different metals (such as steel, copper, aluminum) require VCI paper with corresponding formulations to avoid cross-corrosion; ④ The storage environment temperature should not be too high, and contact with acids and alkalis should be avoided. Difference from other terms: ordinary anti-rust paper only prevents rust through contact surfaces, while VCI paper has vapor-phase anti-rust function and can protect areas not in direct contact; compared with desiccants, VCI paper does not absorb moisture but prevents rust through chemical corrosion inhibition, and the two are often used together.
