Pallet Deck Board

Pallet Deck Board is one of the core components of a pallet, referring to the horizontal or longitudinal boards laid on top of the pallet that directly carry the cargo, usually made of wood, plastic, or metal. In foreign trade, this term is commonly found in specifications of wooden pallets and plastic pallets, procurement contracts, packaging requirements, and customs declaration documents. Usage scenarios include: customers specifying the material of the pallet deck board (such as hardwood, plywood), thickness, width, gap, and load capacity; or requiring the boards to undergo fumigation treatment (ISPM 15) to comply with export quarantine standards. Notes: The material of the deck board affects the strength, durability, and cost of the pallet; wooden boards require fumigation certificates or heat treatment certificates, otherwise they may be rejected by the importing country; plastic boards require attention to load-bearing and anti-slip performance. The difference from terms such as 'Stringer' and 'Bottom Deck Board' is that the deck board is located at the top layer of the pallet and directly contacts the cargo, while the stringer is a supporting structure and the bottom deck board is at the lowest layer. Foreign trade practitioners should distinguish them accurately to avoid delivery non-conformity or customs clearance issues caused by unclear descriptions.
