Fumigation-Free Pallet

A fumigation-free pallet is a pallet made from materials that have undergone high-temperature and high-pressure treatment or from engineered wood (such as plywood, particleboard, or fiberboard). Because it does not fall under the ISPM 15 requirement for solid wood packaging material to be fumigated or heat-treated, it can be used for export without fumigation. It is mainly used for exports to countries with strict quarantine requirements on wood packaging (such as the United States, the European Union, and Australia), helping avoid delays, costs, and chemical residue issues caused by fumigation. Precautions include: confirming that the pallet is indeed made of fumigation-free materials and bears the IPPC mark or relevant certification; avoiding mixing it with solid wood pallets; and noting that its load capacity and durability may be lower than those of solid wood pallets. The difference from a 'fumigated pallet' is that the latter must undergo fumigation or heat treatment and bear the IPPC mark, while a fumigation-free pallet is exempt from this step. Compared with a 'plastic pallet,' a fumigation-free pallet is lower in cost but has poorer moisture resistance.
