Project Logistics

Project Logistics refers to customized logistics services for large, complex, high-value, and usually indivisible cargo (such as large mechanical equipment, engineering modules, wind turbine blades, transformers, etc.). It involves multimodal transport, heavy lifting, route surveys, permit applications, insurance, and on-site delivery, and is commonly used in international engineering projects in energy, infrastructure, petrochemical, and other industries. Use cases include equipment transport under EPC contracts and overseas factory relocation. Precautions: plan in advance, considering cargo dimensions, weight, center of gravity, and transport restrictions; be familiar with the regulations and import requirements of the project country; risks are high, so project cargo transport insurance should be purchased. Differences from other terms: unlike ordinary container transport, project logistics emphasizes the integrity of the 'project,' non-standard operations, and end-to-end management; compared with breakbulk shipping, project logistics focuses more on solutions for single oversized cargo. Foreign trade practitioners need to work closely with project logistics service providers to ensure seamless coordination of documents, customs affairs, and on-site operations.
