The 45-foot high cube container (45HQ) is a high-cube specification in international container transportation, referring to a high-cube container that is 45 feet long and 9 feet 6 inches high. Its external dimensions are approximately 13.716 m × 2.438 m × 2.896 m, with an internal volume of about 86 cubic meters and a maximum payload of about 27-29 tons. Compared with the 40HQ (40-foot high cube, internal volume about 76 cubic meters), the 45HQ is 5 feet longer and has about 10 cubic meters more capacity, but not all shipping lines provide this container type, and some ports and inland transport may be unable to handle it due to road restrictions. In terms of use cases, the 45HQ is suitable for transporting light bulky cargo (such as furniture, plastic products, and textiles), and can reduce the ocean freight per unit of cargo. Notes: before booking, confirm whether the shipping line accepts 45HQ and whether the destination port supports it; for trucking and rail transport, verify height and weight limits; compared with 40GP and 40HQ, the 45HQ has fewer container sources and may be in short supply during peak season, and its ocean freight is usually slightly higher than that of 40HQ. The difference from the 45GP (45-foot general purpose container, height 8 feet 6 inches) lies in the height: the 45HQ is taller and has greater volume.
