Setup Verification

Setup Verification is a key term in foreign trade production and quality management. It refers to the inspection and confirmation of the readiness of production lines, equipment, molds, tooling, and process parameters before formal mass production, to ensure they meet order technical specifications and quality requirements. It is commonly used in OEM/ODM manufacturing, machining, injection molding, electronics assembly, and other industries, especially when customers require First Article Inspection (FAI) or Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), where setup verification is a prerequisite step. Usage scenarios include: first production of new products, mold or equipment changes, process parameter adjustments, and resuming production after shutdown. Precautions: Verification must be performed and recorded by quality inspection or process personnel, typically including first article dimensions, appearance, and performance tests; if not passed, adjustments and re-verification are required, and mass production must not proceed directly. Difference from 'First Article Inspection': Setup verification focuses on whether production conditions are ready and has a broader scope; first article inspection focuses on quality confirmation of the first product. Difference from 'Process Verification': The latter concerns the stability of the entire production process, while setup verification only addresses the pre-production readiness state.
