GOST Certification (Russian Certification)

GOST certification is a mandatory product certification system implemented in Russia and some CIS countries (such as Kazakhstan, Belarus, etc.), originating from the Soviet national standard (GOST). This certification aims to ensure that products comply with Russian safety, hygiene, and environmental standards, and is a prerequisite for many goods to enter the Russian market. Usage scenarios include: when exporting mechanical equipment, electronic products, food, cosmetics, children's products, etc., to Russia or Eurasian Economic Union countries, importers usually require a GOST certification certificate. Notes: GOST certification is divided into mandatory certification and voluntary certification; products under mandatory certification must obtain a certificate to clear customs and be sold; certification must be issued by a Russian-recognized certification body, and technical documents, test reports, etc., must be provided; since 2013, the Eurasian Economic Union has been promoting EAC certification to gradually replace national GOST certifications, but some products still use GOST. Unlike CE certification (EU) and ISO certification (international), GOST certification is regionally mandatory and has an independent standards system. Foreign trade practitioners need to confirm whether their products are on the mandatory list and apply in advance to avoid port detention risks.
