IP65

IP65 is one of the International Protection (Ingress Protection) ratings defined by the IEC 60529 standard. The two digits after IP indicate dust and water protection levels respectively: the first digit 6 means completely dust-tight (the highest level), and the second digit 5 means protection against water jets (able to withstand low-pressure water jets from all directions, but not immersion in water). In foreign trade, IP65 is commonly used for electronics, lighting fixtures, outdoor equipment, industrial control cabinets, etc., indicating suitability for environments with heavy dust and possible water jets, such as outdoor lighting, construction sites, and car washes. Note the distinction from IP66 (protection against strong water jets), IP67 (temporary immersion), and IP68 (continuous immersion). Usage scenarios include product specifications, procurement contracts, technical agreements, and customs declarations. Precautions: confirm the testing standard (e.g., IEC or GB), as different countries may have variations; IP65 does not mean it can be used underwater; if the customer requires higher protection, upgrade to IP66 or above. Foreign trade professionals should accurately understand the meaning of the rating to avoid returns or claims due to non-compliant protection levels.
