5VA Rating

5VA Rating is one of the highest flame retardancy ratings in the UL 94 flammability testing standard, used to evaluate the fire performance of plastic materials. UL 94 classifies materials into multiple ratings; the 5VA rating requires that after five 10-second flame applications, the afterflame and afterglow time does not exceed 60 seconds, no dripping particles ignite cotton, and the hole in the test bar must not burn through. This rating is commonly used for electronic and electrical appliances, automotive parts, and other products with extremely high flame retardancy requirements for enclosures. Usage scenario: When a customer requires a material to meet 5VA rating, the supplier must provide a UL Yellow Card or third-party test report. Note: The difference between 5VA and 5VB is that 5VB allows burning through the hole; compared with V-0 rating, 5VA testing is more stringent (5 vs 2 flame applications, and higher requirements). In foreign trade, attention should be paid to the equivalence of different standards (such as IEC 60695) to avoid disputes caused by standard differences.
