UV Resistance

UV Resistance refers to the ability of a material to resist aging, fading, embrittlement, or performance degradation caused by ultraviolet radiation. It is an important quality indicator for products such as plastics, rubber, coatings, textiles, and outdoor products. In foreign trade, this term is commonly used to describe the durability of products exposed to sunlight outdoors for long periods, especially for customers in regions with strong UV radiation such as the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Africa, who explicitly require UV Resistance grades or test standards (e.g., ASTM G154, ISO 4892). Note: UV Resistance is not the same as UV Protection; the former emphasizes the material's own tolerance, while the latter refers to the ability to block UV penetration. It is also not equivalent to Weather Resistance, which includes comprehensive performance such as rain and temperature resistance. When using this term, the test method, duration, retention rate (e.g., tensile strength retention ≥80%), and whether UV absorbers are added should be specified to avoid quality disputes caused by vague descriptions.
