Leakage Current Tester

A Leakage Current Tester is a specialized instrument used to measure the unintended current that flows through insulation or the enclosure to ground under normal operating or fault conditions of electrical equipment. In foreign trade, this term is commonly found in the safety testing of electronic appliances, medical devices, lighting products, etc., and is a key testing device for compliance with safety standards such as IEC, UL, and CE. Usage scenarios include: routine inspection on factory production lines, laboratory type tests, export commodity inspection, etc. Precautions: Select the corresponding standard according to the target market (e.g., IEC 60990, UL 60950), and confirm the test voltage, measurement accuracy, and network type (e.g., human body impedance simulation network). Difference from a Hipot Tester: The hipot tester applies high voltage to verify insulation strength, while the leakage current tester measures the actual leakage current magnitude at rated voltage; the two are complementary but have different purposes.
