Profile Projector

Profile Projector, also known as an optical projector or contour projector, is a precision instrument that uses the principle of optical projection to magnify and project the contour of a workpiece onto a screen for non-contact measurement. In foreign trade, this term is commonly used in the export business of precision machinery, molds, electronic components, and hardware tools. Usage scenarios include: quoting to customers, signing procurement contracts, customs declaration and inspection, product manuals, and technical agreements. Precautions: First, the English name should be uniformly 'Profile Projector' to avoid confusion with 'Projector' (ordinary projector); second, technical parameters such as magnification, measurement accuracy, and stage travel must be clearly specified to prevent quality disputes; third, some countries have import certification requirements for such instruments (e.g., CE, RoHS), which need to be confirmed in advance. The difference from a 'Vision Measuring Machine' is that a profile projector mainly relies on optical projection and screen comparison, while a vision measuring machine uses CCD cameras and software analysis, offering a higher degree of automation.
