Durability Test

Durability Test is a quality inspection step in foreign trade that assesses a product's physical lifespan and resistance to wear and tear. It is commonly applied to electronics, machinery, textiles, furniture, etc. Its purpose is to simulate the product's ability to maintain performance under normal use or extreme conditions (such as repeated folding, abrasion, dropping, temperature and humidity changes) to verify compliance with contract or industry standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO). Usage scenarios include: customers requiring test reports as a prerequisite for shipment, sampling tests during inspection, or serving as a basis for judging quality disputes. Precautions: Test standards must be clearly specified in the contract (e.g., test method, duration, pass/fail criteria) to avoid disputes caused by standard differences; test costs and lead time need to be negotiated in advance; certification requirements in different markets (e.g., CE, FCC) may include specific durability items. Difference from 'reliability testing': durability focuses on wear and aging over time/cycles, while reliability focuses more on failure rate and life distribution; unlike 'destructive testing', durability testing may be non-destructive or partially destructive, but usually requires the sample to still maintain functionality. Foreign trade practitioners should specify test clauses in the PI or L/C and retain third-party reports.
