托福口语 Task 4

Today, we're going to talk about a fascinating concept in animal behavior called 'behavioral adaptation.' Specifically, I want to focus on how some animals have developed unique hunting strategies to survive in harsh environments. Take the archerfish, for example. It lives in murky waters where visibility is poor. Instead of chasing prey, it shoots a jet of water from its mouth to knock insects off overhanging branches. This allows it to catch food without leaving the safety of the water. Another example is the humpback whale. These whales hunt in groups using a technique called 'bubble-net feeding.' They swim in a circle below a school of fish, releasing bubbles to create a curtain that traps the fish. Then, they swim upward with mouths open to scoop up the concentrated prey. Both examples show how animals develop specialized methods to increase their chances of finding food in challenging conditions.
