Student 1 (Jane): Did you see the email about the mandatory meal plan? I think it's a terrible idea. Student 2 (Mike): Really? I thought it was reasonable. Why don't you like it? Jane: First, it's too expensive. I live off-campus and cook my own meals. Paying for a meal plan I won't use is a huge financial burden. I'd have to take out more student loans. Mike: But you could choose the 5-meal plan. Jane: Even that costs over $200 a month. And second, it's unfair to commuters like me. We don't have time to hang around campus for meals—we have jobs and long commutes. Forcing us to eat on campus would disrupt our schedules. The policy ignores our needs. Mike: I see your point. For commuters, it does seem problematic.
