TOEFL Speaking Task 2

Campus Announcement: Starting next semester, the university will extend library hours to 24/5 (Sunday through Thursday) and implement a mandatory quiet study policy on the second floor. The extension aims to accommodate students' varied schedules, while the quiet floor is intended to reduce noise complaints. Additional security staff will be hired to ensure safety during overnight hours.

M: Did you see the announcement about the library? I'm actually pretty excited about the 24/5 hours. As a night owl, I often can't find a quiet place to study after midnight, especially during finals. This will be a huge help. W: I agree on the extended hours, but I'm not so sure about making the whole second floor quiet-only. I mean, I often study there with my project group, and we need to discuss things. Forcing us all to be silent might make it harder to collaborate. M: That's a fair point, but you can still use other floors or book group study rooms. I think the quiet floor is a good idea because it gives people like me who need absolute silence a reliable space. And with more security, I won't worry about staying late. W: I guess, but I wish they'd only made one section quiet, not the entire floor.
