托福口语 Task 2

Announcement: The university will extend library hours during finals week from 10 PM to 2 AM, starting next Monday. The extended hours will apply to the main library only. To accommodate this, the university will reduce funding for the student lounge renovation project. The administration believes this change will better support students during exams.

Woman: Did you see the announcement about the library staying open later? Man: Yeah, but I’m not happy about it. I mean, sure, extra study time sounds good, but cutting the lounge renovation is a bad trade-off. The lounge is where students relax between classes, and it’s already outdated. Plus, most students don’t need to study past midnight. They can use the 24-hour study rooms in the dorm basements. Woman: That’s true, but I think the library is more convenient for group projects. Man: Actually, those dorm study rooms are just as good, and they’re closer for many of us. Also, the lounge renovation would benefit everyone all year, not just during finals. I’d rather have a nice lounge than extra library hours for one week.
