TOEFL Speaking Task 2

Campus Announcement: Starting next semester, the university will extend library hours to 2 a.m. on weekdays during finals week only. The extended hours will apply to the main library, and additional security staff will be on duty. The university believes this will help students prepare better for exams.

Woman: Did you see the announcement about the library? I think it's a great idea. Man: Really? I'm not so sure. It's only during finals week, and it's just the main library. Woman: But that's exactly when we need it most. I have three exams back-to-back, and my dorm is too noisy. I can study better there. Man: I get that, but the main library is always packed during finals. Even with extra hours, there won't be enough seats. Woman: Maybe, but they're also adding security, so it's safe. Plus, it's better than nothing. I often have to leave at midnight when I'm in the zone. Man: I suppose. But I think they should also extend the branch libraries. Some students live far from the main one. Woman: True, but at least this is a start. I'll use it every night. It shows the university cares.
