TOEFL Speaking Task 2

Campus Announcement: Starting next semester, the university will extend library hours to 24/7 during finals week. Additionally, a new quiet study floor will be added to reduce noise disturbances. The administration believes these changes will better support student academic success.

Woman: Did you see the announcement about the library? I think it's a great idea, especially the 24/7 hours. I always cram for finals at night, and last semester I had to leave at midnight when I was in the middle of reviewing. That extra time will really help me. Man: I agree about the hours, but the quiet floor? That seems unnecessary. We already have study rooms, and most people are pretty quiet anyway. Woman: Well, you'd be surprised. Last week, someone was watching a video without headphones on the second floor. I had to move three times. A dedicated quiet floor would solve that problem once and for all. Man: I guess that's true, but I still think the university could use the money for more pressing needs, like more tutors. Woman: But tutors aren't available at 3 a.m. The library changes directly address our biggest complaints during finals. I'm fully behind it.
