TOEFL Speaking Task 2

Campus Announcement: Starting next semester, the university will extend library hours on weekdays from 10 PM to midnight. This change aims to provide more study time for students during finals and midterms. Additional funding will be allocated to hire part-time staff and increase security measures during the extended hours.

Woman: Did you see the announcement about the library staying open later? I think it's a great idea. I often have to leave at 10 PM right when I'm in the zone. Man: Really? I'm not so sure. I mean, most students are done by then. And the extra cost for staff and security seems wasteful. Woman: But consider commuters like me. We can't go home early, and the dorms are too noisy. I could get so much more done. Man: Still, I think it's only useful during exam weeks, not the whole semester. Plus, the money could be used for more books or better computers. Woman: I see your point, but for me, the quiet late-night hours are worth it. I often have group projects that run late too.
