The university has announced that starting next semester, the main library will extend its hours to 24/7 during finals week. The administration believes this will help students better prepare for exams by providing a quiet, accessible study space at all hours. Additionally, the extra hours will be staffed by student volunteers, giving them valuable work experience.

Woman: Did you see the email about the library staying open all night during finals? I think it's a great idea! Man: Really? I'm not so sure. I mean, who's actually going to use it at 3 a.m.? Most students are asleep then. Woman: But that's exactly the point! Some of us are night owls, and the current closing time of midnight cuts our study sessions short. I've had to pull all-nighters at the coffee shop, which is noisy and expensive. Man: I suppose, but what about the student volunteers? They'll be exhausted, and that could hurt their own studies. Woman: Actually, volunteers can sign up for shifts that fit their schedules, and they'll get professional training. Plus, the announcement says they'll earn community service credits, which looks great on resumes. Man: Hmm, I still think it's unnecessary. The dorms have study lounges that are open 24/7. Woman: But those are often crowded and loud. The library has better resources, like computers and reference books. For serious studying, it's the best place.
