TOEFL Speaking Task 2

Campus Announcement: Starting next semester, the university will extend the library's hours to 24/7 during finals week. Additionally, a new quiet study floor will be added on the fourth floor, accessible only to graduate students. The administration believes these changes will reduce noise complaints and provide more flexible study options for all students.

Man: Did you see the announcement about the library? I'm not thrilled about the 24/7 hours. I mean, who's really going to use it at 3 a.m.? It's just going to cost more in staffing and energy, and we already have enough late-night options like the 24-hour computer lab. Woman: But what about the new quiet floor for grad students? That seems fair—they need a place away from undergrads. Man: Actually, I think it's a bad idea. It's going to create a divide. Undergrads also need quiet spaces, especially for group projects, and we're already crowded. Plus, the fourth floor was a popular group study area. Moving all grad students there just pushes us into noisier spots. The library should focus on more group rooms, not separate floors.
