Campus Parking Fee Increase: Starting next semester, the university will raise the annual parking permit fee from $200 to $300. The additional revenue will be used to build more parking garages and improve campus shuttle services. The university believes this change will reduce parking shortages and encourage carpooling.

M: Did you see the email about the parking fee increase? I can't believe they're charging more. That's a 50% jump! W: I know, it seems steep. But honestly, I think it's a good move. The parking lots are always full, and I've missed classes because I couldn't find a spot. More garages would really help. M: Maybe, but $300 is a lot for students on a budget. And I rarely use the shuttle—it's slow and doesn't run late. Why should I pay for something I don't use? Plus, carpooling isn't practical for me since I work off-campus. W: I get that, but the fee increase targets exactly those who drive alone. If more people carpool, there'll be more spots for everyone, even if you don't use the shuttle. And the new garages could actually reduce the time you spend circling. M: I still think they should find other funding, like from the state or campus events. Raising fees just hurts students. I'm against it.
