托福口语 Task 2

Announcement: Starting next semester, the university library will extend its hours to 24/7 during finals week (the last two weeks of each semester). This change aims to provide students with more flexible study spaces during high-stress periods. To accommodate this, the library will reduce its evening hours from 10 PM to 8 PM on regular days (non-finals weeks). The university believes this adjustment will better allocate resources and meet student needs.

M: Did you see the library announcement? I'm not thrilled about it. W: Really? I thought the 24/7 finals week hours are great. Why don't you like it? M: Well, yes, the extended finals hours are nice, but cutting evening hours on regular days is a huge problem. I have a part-time job from 6 to 9 PM on weekdays, and I usually go to the library after that to study. With the new 8 PM closing, I won't have anywhere quiet to study on campus. My roommate is loud, so I can't study at home. W: That's a valid point, but maybe you could go earlier? M: I can't, my shift ends at 9. Also, the library is the main place for students like me who don't have access to quiet study spaces. Reducing those hours hurts us more than it helps. The finals week perk doesn't compensate for losing two hours every single night for most of the semester.
