托福口语 Task 2

Notice: Starting next semester, the university will extend library hours to 2 AM on weekdays and 10 PM on weekends. To accommodate the extended hours, the library will reduce the number of study rooms available for group booking. The university believes this change will better serve students who need late-night study spaces.

Man: Did you see the notice about the library hours? I think it's a great idea. Woman: Really? I'm not so sure. Extending hours sounds nice, but cutting group study rooms is a problem for me. Man: But think about it—most students study alone at night. Group rooms are often empty after 8 PM anyway. Woman: That's not true for my project team. We always book a group room for evening meetings, and now it'll be harder to get one. Man: Well, I still think the trade-off is worth it. Late-night students like me have no place to go now, and the library is the quietest place. Woman: I get that, but the library could have just added more quiet zones instead of taking away group rooms. Many of us rely on those rooms for presentations and group work.
