TOEFL Speaking Task 2

Campus Announcement: Starting next semester, the university will extend library hours to 24/7 during finals week. The library will also add a new quiet study floor to accommodate increased demand. Students must use their ID cards to enter after 10 PM for security reasons.

Woman: Did you see the announcement about the library? I think it's a great idea! Man: Really? I'm not so sure. The 24/7 hours sound nice, but the ID requirement might be a hassle. Woman: But think about it—during finals, many of us pull all-nighters. Having the library open all night gives us a safe, quiet place to study without having to go to noisy dorms. Man: I guess that's true, but the new quiet floor won't help much. It's already hard to find a seat, and adding one floor won't solve the overcrowding. Woman: Actually, the ID check is for our safety. And the quiet floor means more space for everyone. Plus, with 24/7 hours, the crowd spreads out over the night, so it won't be as packed. Man: Hmm, I hadn't thought about that. Maybe it's better than I thought.
