TOEFL Speaking Task 2

Announcement: Starting next semester, the university will extend library hours to midnight on weekdays. This change aims to provide more study time for students, especially during exam periods. To accommodate the extended hours, the library will reduce the number of study rooms available for group bookings. Additionally, the university will hire more part-time student assistants to manage the increased workload.

M: Did you see the announcement about the library? I think it's great! I often need to study late, especially before finals. Having the library open until midnight means I don't have to rush back to my dorm early. W: Yeah, I get that, but I'm not so sure. They're cutting down on group study rooms, and that's a problem for me and my project team. We have a lot of group assignments this semester, and those rooms are essential for our meetings. M: But you can always book them earlier, right? W: Not really. With fewer rooms, it'll be harder to find available slots, especially during peak times. Also, the extra hours won't help much if I can't use the facilities for group work. I think they should have kept the same number of rooms and just extended hours for individual study areas.
