托福口语 Task 2

Campus Announcement: Starting next semester, the university library will extend its hours to 24/7 during final exam weeks. In addition, a new quiet study floor will be added on the third floor, accessible only to graduate students. The administration believes these changes will better accommodate student needs during high-stress periods.

M: Did you see the library announcement? I think it's a great idea, especially the 24/7 hours during finals. Last semester, I had to leave at midnight when I was in the middle of studying, and it really broke my concentration. Now I can study as long as I need. W: I agree about the hours, but I'm not so sure about the graduate-only floor. As an undergrad, I often need a quiet place too, and the main floors can be noisy. Why should we be excluded? M: Well, the announcement says it's to help grad students with their research, but I think undergrads also deserve quiet space. They could have made it open to everyone who needs it, maybe with a sign-up system. W: Exactly! That would be fair. I'm glad they extended hours, but the new floor seems unnecessary and even a bit elitist.
