TOEFL Speaking Task 2

Campus Announcement: Starting next semester, the university will extend library hours to 24/5 (Sunday night through Friday evening) and add a new late-night shuttle service between the library and the main dormitory area. The service will run every 20 minutes from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. The university hopes this will support students' study needs, especially during exam periods.

Woman: Did you see the announcement about the library and shuttle? I think it's a great idea. Man: Really? I'm not so sure. I mean, the library is already open until midnight, and most students don't study after that. Woman: But many of us do, especially for group projects and finals. I've had to leave at midnight when I was in the middle of writing a paper. And that shuttle? It's a lifesaver. Walking back to dorms at 1 a.m. is not safe, and the current shuttle stops at 10 p.m. Man: I get that, but I think it's a waste of money. Only a few students would use it. Why not invest in more study spaces during the day instead? Woman: Actually, I've seen the library packed even at 11 p.m. this week. And the shuttle isn't just for library users—it can help anyone out late. I think it's worth it.
