TOEFL Speaking Task 2

Campus Announcement: Starting next semester, the university will extend library hours to 24/7 during finals week. The library will be open around the clock from the Sunday before finals until the last day of exams. This change aims to provide students with more flexible study spaces during the most stressful period. Additional funding will be allocated to hire temporary staff for overnight shifts.

M: Did you see the announcement about the library being open 24/7 during finals? I think it's a great idea. W: Really? I'm not so sure. I mean, it sounds nice, but it might not be worth the cost. M: Why not? I often struggle to find a quiet place to study late at night, especially before big exams. With 24-hour access, I wouldn't have to worry about being kicked out at midnight. W: But they're hiring extra staff for overnight shifts. That costs a lot of money, and the university could use that money for more important things, like updating the old computers in the library. M: I see your point, but I think having a safe and quiet study space is more crucial during finals. Also, many students, like me, work part-time during the day, so we can only study at night. W: I guess that makes sense for some, but I still think the money could be better spent elsewhere.
