TOEFL Speaking Task 2

Campus Announcement: Starting next semester, the university will extend library hours to 24/7 during finals week. Additionally, a new quiet study floor will be added on the third level, accessible only to graduate students. The administration believes these changes will reduce noise complaints and improve study conditions for all students.

Man: Did you see the announcement about the library? I'm really not happy about it. Woman: Why? I thought 24/7 hours during finals would be helpful. Man: It might help for a few days, but what about the rest of the semester? We still need late-night study options, not just during finals. Many of us have midterms and projects throughout the year. Woman: That's true. But what about the new quiet floor for grad students? Man: That's the other problem. It's unfair to undergrads. We also need quiet spaces, but now we're excluded from the best floor. It will be even harder to find a quiet spot during busy times. Woman: I see your point. So you think the changes are not well thought out? Man: Exactly. They only address finals week and favor grad students, ignoring the needs of most students.
