The university believes this will better serve students' late-night study needs while maintaining cost efficiency.

M: Did you see the library announcement? I'm not sure it's a good trade-off. W: Really? I think it's great. I often pull all-nighters for exams, and having 24-hour access midweek would be a lifesaver. M: But think about Saturday afternoons. Many students, like me, work part-time jobs on weekdays and only have time to study on weekends. Cutting Saturday hours from six to four hurts that group. W: I get that, but you can use Sunday through Thursday nights. Besides, the extended finals week hours are crucial for everyone. Plus, the library can save money on weekend staffing, which could fund more study spaces. That's a win. M: Maybe, but not everyone can stay up late. I have friends who are morning people. They prefer Saturday mornings. Still, I admit the 24/5 option gives flexibility for most students, and the cost savings might improve other services. W: Exactly.
