TOEFL Speaking Task 2

Campus Announcement: Starting next semester, the university will extend the library's hours from 10 PM to 2 AM on weekdays. This change aims to accommodate students who prefer studying late at night. Additionally, the university will increase the availability of study rooms during these extended hours. To fund this, a small fee of $20 per semester will be added to all students' tuition.

Student 1 (Tom): Did you see the announcement about the library hours? I think it's a great idea. I often have late-night group projects, and the current 10 PM closing is too early. The extra study rooms will also help us find quiet spaces. The $20 fee is minimal compared to the benefits, so I'm totally in favor. Student 2 (Sarah): I see your point, but I disagree. Many students, like me, prefer to study in the morning or afternoon. The extended hours will only benefit a few night owls, yet everyone has to pay the fee. Also, the university could use that money for more urgent needs, like updating old computers or adding more books. I think it's an unfair cost for a service most of us won't use.
