TOEFL Speaking Task 2

Announcement: Starting next semester, the university will extend library hours to 2 AM on weekdays. To accommodate this, the library will reduce its weekend opening hours to 10 AM - 6 PM. The administration believes this change will better serve students who study late, while still providing adequate access on weekends.

M: Did you see the announcement about the library hours? I think it's a great idea. I often lose track of time while studying and have to leave at midnight when it closes. Now I can stay longer and get more done. W: But what about weekend access? I usually do my big projects on weekends, and 6 PM is too early. I like to work in the evening. M: I get that, but weekend afternoons are actually the most popular time for students. Plus, we can always use the 24-hour study lounge in the basement. It's quiet and has enough outlets. W: Hmm, I guess that's true. I hadn't thought about the lounge. But still, I prefer the main library for its resources. M: Well, for me, the extra late hours during the week are worth it. I rarely come on weekends anyway. W: I suppose for many students, this change makes sense. I'll try to adapt.
