Campus Notice: Starting next semester, the university library will extend its hours on weekdays until 2 a.m., and will offer a new 24-hour study lounge on the ground floor. To fund these changes, the library will reduce its weekend hours to 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. from the current 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. The administration believes this will better serve students' late-night study needs.

M: Did you see the library announcement? I think it's a great idea. I'm always pulling all-nighters before exams, and now I won't have to go to that noisy dorm lounge. W: But wait, cutting weekend hours? I usually do all my research and group projects on Saturdays and Sundays. The library is the only quiet place on weekends. M: I get that, but most students don't use the library much on Saturday evenings or Sunday nights. Plus, the new 24-hour study lounge will still be available on weekends, so we can go there. W: True, but the lounge is small and doesn't have all the reference books and computers I need. The main library has more resources. M: I think weekend mornings and afternoons are enough for most people. Also, the extended weekday hours will help commuters like me who have long train rides and can't get back early. W: I see your point, but I still worry about losing the weekend resource access.
