TOEFL Speaking Task 2

Campus Announcement: New Library Hours. Starting next semester, the library will close at 10 PM on weekdays instead of midnight. Weekend hours will remain unchanged. The administration believes this will reduce operating costs and encourage students to develop better time management skills.

Woman: Did you see the announcement about the library hours? I can't believe they're closing at 10 now! That's so early. Man: I know, right? I usually study there until 11 or 12, especially before exams. This is going to hurt my study schedule. Woman: Exactly. And they say it's to save money, but I bet they're not cutting the budget for the new gym. Plus, telling us to manage our time better is insulting - we're adults! We know how to prioritize. Man: Yeah, and for students like me who work part-time in the evenings, the only time I can hit the library is after work, around 9 PM. Now I'll only get one hour before closing. That's useless. I'll have to study at home, but my roommate is super noisy. Woman: Same here. I think it's a terrible decision. They should ask students first.
