TOEFL Speaking Task 2

Campus Announcement: Starting next semester, the university will extend library hours to 24/7 during finals week. Additionally, a new quiet study floor will be added to reduce noise. The administration believes this will help students perform better academically and reduce stress.

M: Did you see the announcement about the library? I think it's a great idea. W: Really? I'm not so sure. Extending hours during finals is nice, but it might just encourage more procrastination. Students will think they can stay up all night, which is unhealthy. M: But the quiet floor is what I like most. It's always so noisy in the main area. With a dedicated quiet space, I can concentrate without distractions. W: That's true, but they're only adding one floor. With thousands of students, it'll fill up in minutes. And what about the rest of the semester? The 24-hour access is only for finals week, not during regular exams or midterms. M: Still, it's a step forward. Even a small improvement helps. W: I guess, but I think they should focus on more permanent solutions, like hiring more staff or building a new study center.
