Narrator: Listen to part of a lecture in a biology class. Professor: Today we'll discuss how certain animals survive in extreme environments. Take the wood frog, for example. When winter comes, its body freezes solid—up to 65% of its water turns to ice. You might think that would kill it, but the frog produces high concentrations of glucose, which acts like antifreeze, preventing ice crystals from damaging its cells. As the temperature warms, the frog thaws out and resumes normal activity. Another fascinating case is the tardigrade, a microscopic creature. It can survive being completely dried out, exposed to radiation, and even the vacuum of space. How? It enters a state called cryptobiosis, where it curls up and shuts down its metabolism. In this state, it can survive for decades. When conditions improve, it rehydrates and comes back to life. So, these organisms have evolved remarkable strategies to cope with environmental stress. Now, what might be a common theme between these two examples?
❓ 题目 What is the main point the professor makes about the wood frog and the tardigrade?

✅ 正确答案

C) Both animals are examples of organisms that can survive extreme conditions through specialized adaptations.
