In many countries, urban centers are undergoing rapid gentrification, while rural areas face population decline and deteriorating infrastructure. However, some argue that concentrating resources on revitalizing rural communities can achieve greater social equity than continuing urban expansion. Others maintain that cities remain the engines of economy and innovation, and that any excessive tilt toward rural areas could hinder overall development. In this regard, do you think governments and society should prioritize the interests of which side when balancing urban-rural development? Please state your position and support it with specific reasons and examples.
