In today's lecture, we'll discuss the impact of urban green spaces on mental health. A recent study conducted in Melbourne followed 1,000 residents over five years. Participants who lived within 300 meters of a park reported 20% lower stress levels. Interestingly, the size of the park mattered less than its accessibility. Even small pocket parks, if well-maintained and safe, provided significant benefits. However, the study also found that people who visited green spaces at least twice a week showed the most improvement, regardless of the duration of each visit. So, it's not just about having green areas nearby, but actively using them regularly.
