Today in our archaeology lecture, we'll discuss the discovery of a Bronze Age settlement in the UK. The site, located near a river, was first found by a farmer in 2018. Excavations revealed circular wooden houses and a wooden trackway. Interestingly, pottery fragments suggest trade with distant regions, while animal bones indicate a diet mainly of cattle and sheep. However, the most significant find was a gold torc, which implies high-status inhabitants. Carbon dating places the settlement around 1200 BC, earlier than previously thought for this area.
