Good morning, everyone. Today, in our environmental science lecture, we'll discuss urban green spaces. Recent studies show that parks and community gardens can reduce city temperatures by up to five degrees Celsius. Moreover, they improve air quality by absorbing pollutants. Interestingly, access to green areas has been linked to better mental health, with lower stress levels reported among residents living near such spaces. However, the key challenge is ensuring equitable distribution, as many low-income neighborhoods lack sufficient green infrastructure. Therefore, city planners should prioritize these areas in future development projects.
